The annual fundraiser for our local Boston based organization, Bikes Not Bombs is rapidly approaching! Every year Bikes Not Bombs holds a fundraiser: Bike-A-Thon and after party: Green Roots Festival! This year it will be held on Sunday June 7th! There are 3 different races going on this year: 15 mile, 25 Mile, and for the avid rider the 62 Mile! The purpose of the race is to raise money for the organization and all the great work they do! Pre-registration is required to race, don’t worry there is still time! But if you are looking to support the organization or just wanting to partake in the activities, you are welcome to come watch the riders or come for the big after-party celebration,¬† Green Roots Festival. There will be food, vendors (including AP), environmental information, speakers, live music, and children’s activities. Everyone is welcome to the festival and it is of course free!

In case you are curious who exactly is Bikes Not Bombs and what do they do, we will lay it all out for you. Bikes Not Bombs was founded 25 years ago and has been promoting economic and environmental stability in the lower income Boston neighborhoods as well as international communities. They are also active in Boston youth and promoting bicycling as an alternative to war and environmental destruction. If you want to learn more about their mission and work both in the local community and abroad, check out their About Us information or the video below.

If you are as impressed as we are with this organization, there are many ways to get involved. If you can not make the event, think about volunteering with them, set up a bike drive or donate to a drive, buy a great recycled bike from their Bike Shop, or get your repairs done at their shop! There are hundreds of ways to get involved with this great organization, so check them out today!

And we really hope to see you at the Bike-A-Thon and Green Roots Festival this Sunday! We love to support them and are a vendor at this year’s festival. So come on by, ¬†support at great group, and say hello to us. Bike on!
