The bioshelter was originally designed to produce 70% of its occupants food requirements. Grain and dairy products were excluded. However with the addition of bees, doves, chickens, tapiala fish, and rabbits it can provide a very healthy paleo diet.
Today myoblastic meat productions could end the need to kill animals while thermal depolymerization combined with stereolithographic goods production could shorten the supply chains for domestic products. Advances in monitoring and computation would make a bioshelter a self regulating smart environment.
A lot has changed in 33 years!

The original Cape Cod Ark was not a waste water treatment facitlity. It was a winter food producing greenhouse, producing vegetables and edible fish.

The futuristic greenhouse illustration is by Malcolm Wells.

The bioshelter concept quote is by Sean Wellesley-Miller.

The bioshelters to date do not produce enough food to "sustain the average human". Additional external food is needed.
